The American Institute of Food and Wine is sponsoring "A Taste of the City" on Sunday August 16, 2015 from 2-5 pm at the Northwest Wine Academy. The event will feature the Seattle's urban based wineries and benefit Washington's culinary and enology students. Tickets are $20 for the general public, $10 for students and available at brown paper tickets http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/2075985. The second annual A Taste of the City; Seattle Urban Food & Wine Harvest Party is a celebration marking the last days of summer before the hard work of harvest begins. Meet the winemakers who in weeks ahead will be transforming the bounty of the countryside into wine here in the city wineries. Over 20 wineries, some just blocks from downtown Seattle, will be pouring their artisanal wines during their event. Participating Seattle Urban Wineries include: Almquist Family Vintners, Bartholomew Winery, Cloudlift Cellars, Domanico Cellars, Elsom Cellars, Eight Bells Winery, Falling Rain Cellars, Laurelhurst Cellars, Lost River Winery, Northwest Wine Academy, Nota Bene Cellars, Omnivore Cellars, OS Winery, Pine Lake Cellars, Queen Anne Winery, Riley Sexton Vintners, Stomani Cellars, Sous Sol, Two Brothers Winery, Viscon Cellars, Ward Johnson Winery, Welcome Road Winery and Wilridge Winery. In addition to the wine, guests will be sampling food prepared by the students in the Pastry Arts Program at South Seattle Community College (WSB sponsor). A Taste of the City is sponsored by the American Institute of Food and Wine (AIFW). AIWF was founded by Julia Child, Robert Mondavi and Richard Graff in 1981 as an educational non-profit organization. AIWF is a 501-c 3. 100% of net proceeds of Pacific Northwest AIWF events go to culinary and enology scholarships for Washington students to attend Washington schools.
