DESCRIPTION:From the West Seattle Cellars (WSB sponsor) e-mail announcement (and remember they’re donating a percentage of sales tonight to West Seattle Helpline): \nThursday\, May 17\, 5:30 to 8:00 – French Wines\, from Louis/Dressner\nLouis/Dressner Selections is a highly respected portfolio of wines\, predominately French and Spanish\, that are made with passion\, integrity\, and a respect for the traditions of their region of origin. You can count on Louis/Dressner wines to be hand-harvested and made with natural yeasts\, minimal intervention\, and little or no filtration. In other words\, pure expressions of place. Greg Giere\, of Cordon Selections\, has picked out a great line-up of Dressner wines from throughout France\, that he will be pouring for us this Thursday night: \nDomaine de la Pépière\, Muscadet – From the Atlantic coast region of the Loire\, this is the quintessential seafood wine. From older vines\, and with extended lees contact\, this Muscadet is bracingly fresh and crisp\, with surprising depth.\nDomaine François Pinon\, Vouvray\, Silex Noir – Further inland\, is the Touraine district of the Loire\, where this Chenin Blanc is grown on silex (flint) soils\, giving the wine great concentration\, with lovely notes of honeysuckle and oyster shells.\nDomaine Bernard Baudry\, Chinon\, “Les Granges” – Here’s a red wine from Chinon\, also in the Touraine district. It’s 100% Cabernet Franc from young vines\, planted on gravel soils. Supple\, fruity\, and perfect for simple foods and cheeses.\nChâteau d’Oupia\, Tradition – Now down south to Minervois. This Carignan/Syrah/Grenache blend is aromatic\, elegant\, and balanced\, with lots of dark fruit. The ideal bistro wine.\nEric Texier\, Côtes du Rhône – Next we move east\, to the Rhône valley\, where Texier makes his character-driven wines\, following organic and biodynamic practices.\nDomaine Franck Peillot\, Mondeuse – Finally\, we travel to Bugey\, just west of the Savoie region\, near the French Alps. This Mondeuse\, a distinctive local varietal\, is juicy\, peppery\, and full of flavor.\nRenardat-Fâche\, Cerdon du Bugey – Cerdon du Bugey is a semi-dry\, sparkling Rosé that never fails to enchant tasters whenever we pour it.
