The service begins with a bonfire outside of the building (on the gravel near the main entrance ramp)\, reminiscent of the bonfire around which Peter denied Jesus and the bonfire on the beach on which he was later restored by Jesus’s grace. Then\, light from that fire makes its way on a large candle into the darkened church building that will soon come alight as we celebrate that “while it was still dark\,” Mary Magdalene discovered Jesus had risen from the dead and defeated even death\, securing for us resurrection hope in each of our own darkest nights. \nSunday Sunrise Service\nMarch 31 @ Westcrest Park\nJoin us in time to see the sunrise at 6:49a for a short service in Westcrest Park’s outdoor patio overlooking the city. Signage from the South Parking lot will guide you through the pea patch the patio overlook. \nNo Easter Sunday Afternoon Service \nWe gather typically on Sundays at 4p in Trinity West Seattle’s building and also have our offices in the building\, but on Easter Sunday we won’t be gathering at our usual time. \n************* \nBETHANY COMMUNITY CHURCH\n8600 9th SW \n3/29/2024 6:00 PM Good Friday Service: Gather with others at a local coffee shop\, C&P Coffee Company\, at 6 pm for our Good Friday service. \n3/31/2024 9:30 AM Easter Service: Celebrate with us on Easter morning for a worship service lasting about an hour\, then join in an egg-hunt family fun! \n************* \nEASTRIDGE CHURCH-WEST SEATTLE\n4500 39th SW \nFriday\, March 29\n7:00 PM\nGood Friday\nThe powerful message about the meaning of the Cross will leave you inspired\, thankful\, and hopeful. \nSunday\, March 31\n10:00 AM\nCelebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ and what it means for your life. \n************* \nFAUNTLEROY UCC\n9140 California SW \nHoly Friday service\nMar 29 @ 7:00 pm in the sanctuary \nA contemplative Tenebrae service of readings and songs to remember the moments of deep shadow surrounding Jesus’ crucifixion. Dress warmly. \n9:00 am in the sanctuary and on YouTube\n11:00 am in the sanctuary \nEach service will begin by transforming a simple wire cross with beautiful spring flowers\, so bring a favorite to add or get one at the door. Both services will have a children’s time and conclude with a joyous singing of the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. Sunday school for elementary-age children will be available during the 11:00 am service\, and nursery care for infants through age 3 will be available during both services. \nEaster breakfast \nEnjoy a delicious breakfast with friends and about-to-be friends from 9:30-11:00 am in Fellowship Hall. SUMMARY:Emergency Communication Hubs exercise: Power Down
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday afternoon\, June 11\, Seattle volunteers will participate in !PowerDown 2023”\, a disaster drill to test neighborhood preparedness for an electrical grid failure lasting multiple days. Emergency Communication Hubs will work with the City”s Auxiliary Communications Service (ACS) to simulate and respond to a city-wide power outage with no immediate estimates for restoration. \n“A massive power outage will shake us in ways that will surprise us. We will relearn the importance of neighbors and community\,” said Emergency Hubs co-leader Ann Forrest\, one of the drill organizers. “Emergency Communication Hubs are organized neighbors who practice supporting their community after a distressing event. They gather to share\ninformation – and resources or skills – to help our neighbors get their basic needs met.” \nThe amateur radio operators of the Auxiliary Communications Service\, operating from Hubs as well as other designated locations around the City\, will test their ability to use their own power sources while sending situation reports of conditions in each neighborhood into the City”s Emergency Operations Center. In a real event\, that information could be used by City response planners to assess conditions throughout the city and develop response plans. \n“For decades\, amateur radio volunteers have stepped in during adverse conditions to help communities meet the moment during disasters\,” said Catherine Middleton-Hardie\, Deputy Director of Seattle ACS. “Our volunteers drill regularly to facilitate reliable off grid voice and data transmission across the City\, using our own equipment and training.” \nFailure of our electrical grid not only results in loss of electrical power but would also likely impact our water and sewer capacity\, as many of the systems we rely on are closely interconnected. The simulated messages being sent and received by the volunteers cover a variety of conditions requiring varied responses. \nAt the Hub sites shown below\, the public is invited to observe or participate with the Hubs\, and get information on how to develop their own plans to endure an extended outage. \nParticipating Hub locations include:\nHub Address (these two in our area) \nHope Lutheran\n4456 42nd Ave SW \nSouth Park\n8201 10th Ave S \nAll Hub locations encourage visitors – in fact\, public participation is essential to test the system the Hubs have in place. The public will learn about community preparedness and how to make their own households more resilient. \nDate and Time: Sunday\, June 11\, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:00 pm\nFor more information\, about Seattle Emergency Hubs\, visit seattleemergencyhubs.org; for questions\, contact Ann Forrest at Info@SeattleEmergencyHubs.org or call (904) 701-4827 \nShare This
