Thanksgiving Nature Walk at Alki/Duwamish Head
Luna Girls sculptureThanksgiving Nature Walk at Alki / Duwamish Head Come out for a community Thanksgiving “Discovery Walk” along the shore of Elliott Bay. It looks like the weather forecast is pretty good with maybe even a sun shower or two. We’ll walk and watch for wildlife both in the water and on the shore, enjoy fall color, and discover what’s blooming - even late into November. Get outside, get a little exercise & fresh air, meet WS neighbors and others of like mind, and simply enjoy the magnificent beauty of our natural surroundings before the feasting etc. Plan on walking 1-2 miles. Everyone is welcome! Possible sightings include: Bald eagles, cormorants, surfbirds, turnstones, white crowned sparrows, song sparrows, rock doves, pollinators, seals, sea lions, river otter, sea ducks, grebes, gulls, hummingbirds, kingfishers, crows, hawks, and - Orcas? (you never know!) When: Thursday morning, November 24th, 8:45 AM (departure) - 10:15 AM. Where: Meet just north of Salty’s at the “Luna Girls” sculpture (Harbor Ave SW @ Fairmount Ave SW) Wear: Gloves and lots of layers - be prepared for cold, wind and /or possible rain Bring: Binoculars if you have them. Silly or serious Thanksgiving trivia Qs will not be frowned upon. Love dogs, but wildlife does not - so please - leave them snug at home. Hosted by: Ann - WS naturalist and photographer
