Harvest of Empire
The Untold Story of Latinos in America

Based on the groundbreaking book by award-winning journalist and Democracy Now co-host, Juan González, this film reveals the direct connection between the long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America, and immigration today.

Featuring real-life stories and rare archival footage, the movie examines the events and conditions that have led millions of Latino families to leave their homelands in an unprecedented wave of migration. From wars for territorial expansion to the covert operations that imposed oppressive military regimes, it unveils a story largely unknown to most U.S. citizens.

Some graphic violence. Not recommended for children.

90 minutes; Spanish subtitles

Directed by Peter Getzels and Eduardo López, 2012

Trailer: http://harvestofempiremovie.com (in both English and Spanish)

After the film, members of Hate-Free Delridge will share ideas and facilitate a discussion about how we can support local immigrants. The discussion will be interpreted into Spanish.
