West Seattle, Washington
22 Wednesday
As part of King County and Seattle’s gun safety initiative (see WSB coverage here), the first in a series of gun-buyback events takes place January 26th, 9 am-3 pm downtown between Cherry and James streets, under I-5.
Gift cards will be offered in exchange for guns – up to $100 for most types, up to $200 for “assault weapons.” Per Mayor McGinn, he hopes to schedule more dates for gun buybacks – “would like to make this a sustainable program,” says the mayor. Amazon is the first to donate gift cards.
Trigger locks and gun-safety information will be offered at the buyback event(s).
