Pole falls, wires down near Constellation Park

Thanks to Cathy for the photos. Separate from the earlier South Alki power outage, a pole has fallen and brought down wires at 64th/Beach Drive, across from Constellation Park.

No injuries, Cathy reports. Seattle City Light‘s map says this is affecting one customer.

This pole has been leaning for several years. It’s been very noticeable whenever driving by.

The google street view from early 2023 shows a red marker with an X, which is a “no climb” tag from the utility company that was likely aware of the need to replace it.  It also appears like the utility wires and various support/guide wires lower down on the pole are pretty low, which may have involved the taller UHaul truck in being the final challenge bringing down the rotten pole.

I too wait for things to break before replacing them. But I’m not running a city.

That comment brings up memories of the West Seattle Bridge’s sudden closure 3 years ago.

Sorry, comment time is over.
