READER REPORT: Another Emma Schmitz Overlook seawall-project milestone

Peter sent the photo (thank you!), reporting that the “aluminum fencing is finally coming down today” at the Emma Schmitz Memorial Overlook seawall-replacement project site, near Beach Drive/Jaoobsen Road. We reported four weeks ago that contractor Redside Construction was almost done with the 465-foot seawall and pedestrian/landscaping features atop it. The work has taken about half a year, as had been estimated.

I’ve been monitoring the park’s progress on my runs, and it’s looking really nice!  If only we could have a bridge completed just as easily/quickly!

This looks fantastic!!  I hope it will last a long time and dog walkers keep their dogs out of the newly planted landscaping.

What a wonderful way to memorialize this splendid day, January 20th.

Agreed, hopefully it is a preamble to a much larger USACE- erected fence coming down.

@Matt, planning started in the 1990’s, the design was fully developed in 2014. I think your hope is quite reasonable that our bridge can be completed as quickly.

Sorry, comment time is over.
