FOLLOWUP: Lincoln Park lot reopens

(Added: WSB photo)

Thanks to Mike for the tip! The south lot at Lincoln Park is open again (we haven’t been able to check yet on the north lot), after almost 7 months. Though as we had reported previously, the announced reopening date is next Monday (October 19th), Parks spokesperson Rachel Schulkin explains, “We started reopening on Monday, and we’ll be finished with all the lots across the city by Monday, October 19 (we can’t do them all in a day).”

About time.  I’ve supported almost every Covid restriction. But closing the park parking lots never made a bit of sense to me.

That lot should have never been closed. All it did was make park patrons park along Fauntleroy in a bunched-up single file, j-walk across the busy arterial (I saw several near-misses), and come into MORE close contact with those using the sidewalks. The Westwood Village, Jefferson Square, and every other retail parking lot in West Seattle has been open for 7 months with ZERO problems. The lot closure was a ridiculous slap in the face to taxpayers.

    Well it’s about GDT!

And  I’m sure the car prowlers will be so happy! Park users, please be vigilant and leave NOTHING in your cars! This lot is notorious for breakins.

Closing the lots was a terrible decision.  My child did outdoor day camp at the park this summer and we’d have to play frogger every day, dodging the normal traffic amongst the ferry lines.  It was dangerous and counterproductive to safety.

I have noticed from Barton all the way up Fauntleroy that people have put up and tied stuff to telephone poles the holders for the Orange Flags.  No Crosswalk they just come walking out from in-between cars with the Orange Flags now.  Is this legal?

Every corner is a crosswalk, whether painted or not.

This is not a Corner that they are at.  It was the middle of the Street.  I will try to get a picture tonight.

Sorry, comment time is over.
