UPDATE: Another gas leak on Delridge Way

2:16 PM: Delridge Way is being shut down at Oregon because of a gas leak – second one on Delridge in less than a week. Updates to come.

2:26 PM: They’re closing traffic at Genesee on the north.

2:37 PM: Per radio exchange, the Community Center has been evacuated while firefighters continue taking air readings. This is several blocks south of last Friday’s problem.

2:46 PM: The gas leak is reported to have been “secured,” and Delridge will reopen shortly.

4:18 PM: Was SDOT’s contractor to blame? We asked. Reply: “The City and PSE are still investigating what caused today’s leak and will determine if there are any connections to a similar one in the area last week.”

I love it when people make a reference, term, or acronym assuming it’s common knowledge. Perhaps they have a Dig Safety Deposit Box, you dig it? I dig it. Don’t make a dig, man.

PSE took over creaky old Washington Natural Gas about twenty years ago (which is why they changed their name from Puget Power to PSE). They immediately fired everyone and made them reapply for their jobs, and since then have not invested squat in the system. Things keep blowing up (That block in Greenwood, that house in Northgate) and they just keep hoping we’ll forget.

this project is taking a toll. We’re smack dab in the middle of the leaks, they did not evacuate us on either gas leak. Couldn’t go north, couldn’t go south.Prior to the Monday leak, a delivery semi blocked my driveway as I was coming home, started backing up at me, I slammed it in reverse and creamed my car on a roller as the same truck clipped the truck beside me. Welcome to the asphalt jungle.
