It continues to surprise me how traffic in Seattle gets so much worse when it rains. It took the 116 express an hour to get to Pioneer Square from the ferry. Ugh!

Rain or shine I find that Tuesdays are the worst traffic day of the week.

Goodie bags on the water taxi celebrating their 10th anniversary

Really? Thanks, will ask what that’s about. Checking the 2009 WT coverage archives, they changed the name in April 2009 but that’s about it for the year…

Wiki says that the Elliott Bay Water Taxi started as a pilot project in 1997. I am sure I have been riding the Water Taxi since then. I remember them sometimes selling beer on the afternoon Argosy boat runs, a great way to say goodbye to downtown as it receded in the sunset.  Fond memories, too, of the Admiral Pete,  which could be a pretty exciting ride in stormy weather.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_County_Water_Taxi

Definitely did. I have a great 1998 memory of traveling on the WT to/from 4th of Jul-Ivar’s (long gone) with my mom (long gone) and our then-toddler son (now in college) … Still waiting to hear back from KCDOT but (see WC Hipster’s photos downthread) I guess they just decided to celebrate the name change (which actually was March 2009 https://wsb.blackfin.biz/2009/03/ps-its-not-the-elliott-bay-water-taxi-any-more/ )

Update, the bags were left over from some event they had with contractors, etc. today at the downtown dock. Later this month is the 10th anniversary of the Vashon service, also.

Thanks, they’re big on cookies – those were part of the swag when the new terminal was dedicated downtown, too.

Sorry, comment time is over.
