TRAFFIC/TRANSIT TODAY: Tuesday watch; 35th/Holden collision

(SDOT MAP with travel times/video links; is the ‘low bridge’ closed? LOOK HERE)

7:11 AM: We start with a collision at 35th/Holden. A texter says a motorcyclist was injured. No other details. That’s it for incidents so far in or from West Seattle.

ADDED: The call closed fairly quickly; commenter Will explains why.

NOTE FOR JULY 28: The city has provided early heads-up that the West Seattle Bridge’s Admiral Way ramp will be closed for “tidying up” on July 28th.

Do you anticipate any follow-up re:the motorcycle crash? Just went past the scene and it looked like injury to the rider would’ve been horrific based on the condition of the bike and surrounding debris.

SFD has already closed out of the crash. We will be checking with them.

I saw the bike as well and thought there was no way anyone could have survived that! It looked like half the bike was completely mangled. Glad to hear the rider was OK!!

I was there for the crash and helped the rider out of the road. He was scratched/shaken up, but never lost consciousness and was able to walk under his own power. No idea how he was doing internally but it didn’t seem like he had any broken bones or anything. Happened in front of the fire station and they were immediately on it with medical aid.

      Thank you.

Saw three police vehicles at the bus stop on the SB side of Delridge and Oregon street. Didn’t look like a collision. This was around 6:45am.

Thanks for sharing and for helping the rider out. Can you tell us how the crash occurred? Was another vehicle involved?

The rider was going north on 35th and a minivan was turning left on Holden. The rider hit the back passenger side of the minivan and was tossed forward. I can’t speak to the speed or behavior of either vehicle – I was looking at my phone while waiting for the crosswalk signal to change and looked up when I heard the impact.

The motorcyclist was traveling on 35th at a very high rate of speed.  Just before the collision, he passed me in front of the library and ran the red light at 35th and Henderson.

Sorry, comment time is over.
