SATURDAY: SDOT ‘Walk and Talks’ in Admiral Way project zone

Four weeks after SDOT went public with its final decision on changes for SW Admiral Way west of California, tomorrow’s the day for its two announced “Walk and Talks.” The announcement on the project webpage says the main goal of the walking tours is to talk about more possible “pedestrian improvements” for the street. The first one starts at 10 am Saturday on the south side of Admiral at 49th SW (map); the second one, 11:15 am Saturday, is set to start at the entrance to Schmitz Park at Admiral/Stevens (map). Last month’s announcement was more than a year after SDOT’s original plan was met with a multitude of concerns.

To SDOT: Thanks for the timely notice…Not. I don’t think anything will change if I show up but I would have preferred pre-notice especially since I provided two different comments on the plan.

This was in the mailing a month ago. I just published this tonight because I’d made myself a note to, not because they sent anything again…

Thanks WSB; just expressing frustration–this plan is better but the solution does not address the areas of Admiral with Issues 59th to 63rd, and 47th to California. It does however make the widest part of Admiral narrower and more dangerous to turn left across traffic.

This proposal will make it much more difficult for EAST bound traffic to stop into the 7-11 and use the Chevron Station on the corner of California and Admiral. Although not effected personally, I see dozens of cars WESTBOUND using 45 and 46 off Admiral. This will increase the traffic  through 47, already a really narrow road. I have no real feeling for further down Admiral, but the proposed change from California to 47 is bad, and should not be implemented.

Sorry, comment time is over.
