UPDATE: Possible shots heard south/west of Admiral

10:13 PM: Police are checking reports of possible gunshots heard just before 10 pm. We heard the dispatch sending officers to an area north of Madison Middle School, and we also received a message from someone several blocks north of that report. No victims have been reported, and we haven’t heard anything further on the dispatch, but wanted to make note. Police say they want to hear from anyone who thinks they hear gunfire – the more reports they get, even if your location/direction information is vague, the better the chance they can find evidence, if any.

12:14 AM: We haven’t reached police to determine whether they found evidence of gunshots, fireworks, or none of the above – but commenter Mike reports seeing fireworks in the area.

Charlestown/44th area here and it was very, very loud (windows were up). I just assumed it was some of the more spectacularly entitled neighbors starting early this year with the artillery-grade fireworks. For once, I hope that is what it was.

Thanks, all. As with many of these cases, if we don’t hear anything on the scanner regarding police finding shell casings (OR verifying fireworks, for example), it remains a mystery at least temporarily. The one thing we can say for starters is that no gunshot *victim* has turned up, so whatever happened, no one was hurt. – TR

I heard a ‘shot’ at 9:58 followed by a car pulling away quickly, then another ‘shot’. Maybe it was fireworks, two big booms. Sounded like it was half a block away. 47th and Andover. (Car peeled out and drove up Andover toward California from the corner of 47th/Andover).

49 / Andover here. Heard three sounds earlier (two close together, one a minute or so later). Figured it was idiots setting off fireworks for cinco de drunko.

Same thing here. Heard shots or fireworks and called the police. Always call the police even if you are unsure! Andover and 48th

I can confirm that it was fireworks. I was driving down 45th by Madison and saw a *huge* green firework exploding over Madison football field. Right afterwards I saw 2 cars flying up Hanford, a silver Jetta and a black Tacoma.
