Thanks for the texts about the emergency response near the Alki Community Center. Here’s what it was about: A woman was injured in Schmitz Park, about midway between the upper and lower entrances to the main trail, apparently from some kind of fall. She had to be brought out via a “Stokes litter” (in photo, post-rescue), the incident commander told us, which took some time; she’s been taken to Harborview.

I walked through the park 30 minutes before this article was posted and saw a group of teenagers attempting to walk across the log bridge.  A woman was attempting to cross the log at the time who seemed pretty unsure, but her friends were encouraging her to continue.  I thought it seemed unwise at the time…maybe it was the same person.

I think you are right. I walked through about 10 minutes after it happened. I talked to the teenager’s boyfriend and he said his girlfriend fell off a log and dropped down about 7-8′ down.

Sorry, comment time is over.
