City leaders have given indications at every turn that more painful budget cuts are unavoidable next year – so this fall’s public hearings may be the most important ones ever. The schedule just arrived via e-mail, and one is in West Seattle – here’s the full list:

    @jiggers: yeah, it’s pretty funny to see the 23rd largest city in the US – and possibly the most beautiful – undergo painful budget cuts that are the result of selfish and stupid incivility. maybe if we try harder, we can be detroit!

    i assume your [adjective] comment refers to the metro operators’ union contract, which will affect less than 1% of metro’s budget, and has nothing to do with the city’s budget.
