West Seattle coyotes: Another new believer

Out of the WSB inbox, from Michael:

I recently read about a coyote being spotted running at 37th and Juneau. Didn’t think it was possible, but this morning at 4:45am, I say one running down 38th between Juneau and Raymond [map]. I thought that was the last I would see of the animal but a few minutes later it came running back up the street in the opposite direction. If I weren’t for the fact I know they like to eat cats and small dogs, I’d welcome this bit of wildlife in our midst!

How to coexist with coyotes – read it here; past WSB coyote coverage – see it here.

Yes! I can report I saw another one really early in the morning late June running down Cloverdale street and crossing over Delridge.

They live among us, get used to it. I saw one recently at about 4am loping across Admiral Way just south of the radar sign. Looked like he was just out making the rounds. If your cat doesn’t come home…

All those “missing” cats are nothing more than Coyote dinner.

We do get the occasional report of a lost cat finding her/his way home after a few days, even a few weeks, FWIW. Meantime, for those interested in converting outdoor cats to indoor cats to be on the safe side, we are working on a story with some info about that – TR

My family and I live off of 35th and Spokane.. My dad drives Dow the hill every morning to meet up with his van pool. Twice, he has spotted cyotes on 34th and Spokane. Also, my sister lives on 37th and Henderson and has ran into them as well.

    I’ve also seen Coyote’s eating a few unlucky Rat’s.
Would we rather have more rats?
I’m sorry, but I’ve lost more cats to cars then coyote’s.

Sorry, comment time is over.
