Conner Mullen‘s last-second three-pointer wasn’t enough to do the job as the Seattle Lutheran High School Saints boys’ team lost to La Conner 48-47 on Saturday night.
While Lutheran did a good job controlling the pace and the boards in the first half, their shooting went cold in the third quarter, when they went three for nine from the floor. That, combined with La Conner’s press at the start of the second half, brought the game to a 37-all tie at the start of the fourth quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Saints lost the lead for the first time and never regained it.
Here’s an example of the very physical play that defined the whole second half. This play came with about 1:20 to go.
The Saints’ standouts were Conner Mullen, who had 13 points total, and Thomas Overshine with 16.
Prior to the boys’ game, the Lady Saints lost to La Conner, 58-24. Leading scorers were Sarah Crunican with 8 points, and Beret Dunn and Emma Mahboub with 6 points each.
